Your skin isn’t the only thing that changes with age.

Animated face with EmFace applicators on the forehead and cheeks, showing the facial muscles underneath

Fine lines. Softer contours. Less definition.

That’s what you see in the mirror.

What you don’t see is what’s happening underneath.

The muscles that help shape and support your face change with age, too. And while skincare treats the surface and fillers add volume, neither actually puts those muscles to work.

EMFACE does.

It triggers thousands of targeted muscle contractions while simultaneously treating the skin with radiofrequency—working above and below the surface at the same time.

How EmFace treatment works · 20 minutes, zero effort

Warmth For Skin, Pulses For Muscle

You lie back. We place the applicators. You scroll your phone. That's your whole job.

The BTL EmFace device with its applicator arm and touchscreen

What is HIFES? (the muscle part)

HIFES stands for high-intensity facial electrical stimulation. It makes the muscles under your skin contract, over and over, far more than you could by pulling faces in a mirror.

  • Works on the forehead, eyebrows, cheeks and jawline
  • Builds tone in muscles skin care cannot reach
  • Done through applicators placed on your face, with no needles

What is Synchronized RF? (the skin part)

At the same moment, radiofrequency warms the skin to encourage collagen and elastin, so the surface looks smoother as the muscle beneath it works.

  • Muscle and skin in one session
  • Comfortable warmth, never burning or pain (BTL's guidance)
  • Wear makeup out the door

Frequently asked questions

How much does EmFace cost in Los Angeles?

At Contourology, EmFace is $750 per treatment for one area, $1,200 for two, $2,000 for three and $3,500 for the full face. Your first treatment is 50% off, and treatment plans lower the cost per treatment by up to 43%.

Is EmFace worth it?

It's worth it if you want a gradual, natural lift with no needles and no downtime, and you like the idea of working the muscle as well as the skin. It's not the right choice if you want the change a surgical facelift gives. We'll tell you which at your first visit.

Is EmFace a facelift?

No. It's not surgery and won't do what a surgeon can. It helps the face you have look more lifted, more defined and more rested. Most people complete four visits, and results keep building for 6 to 12 weeks after the last one.

How many EmFace sessions do I need?

BTL's recommended course is four sessions, typically about a week apart. Results keep building for 6 to 12 weeks after the last one.

How long does an EmFace visit take?

One or two areas take about 20 minutes. Three or four areas take about 40 minutes, because the device treats two areas at a time. A full course is four visits, about a week apart.

Can I treat more than two areas in one visit?

Yes. The device treats two areas at a time, so three or four areas in one visit take about 40 minutes.

Does EmFace hurt?

BTL describes it as gentle muscle contractions with a warming sensation, similar to a relaxing facial massage. You should feel comfortable warmth, never burning or pain. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell us and we adjust straight away.

Are there side effects?

Most people feel nothing afterwards. Some notice mild redness, warmth or muscle soreness that fades. Rarely, the skin can be damaged by heat (a blister or a burn). That's why we keep checking that you feel comfortable warmth and never burning or pain.

What's the difference between EmFace, Botox and fillers?

Botox relaxes muscles. Fillers add volume under the skin. EmFace does neither: it strengthens the muscles that hold your face up and warms the skin to encourage collagen. Some people combine them. We'll tell you whether that makes sense for you.

How is EmFace different from Morpheus8, Thermage and Ultherapy?

Those treatments work on the skin and the tissue just beneath it, using heat or ultrasound. EmFace pairs radiofrequency with muscle stimulation (HIFES), so it works on the skin and the muscle underneath in one visit.

Is there any downtime after EmFace?

No. You can go straight back to your day, makeup included.

Who can't have EmFace?

EmFace isn't right for everyone. Please tell us if any of these apply to you, and we'll go through a full health form with you before your first treatment. It can't be used if you have electronic or metal implants, and it isn't applied over hair or scar tissue. Other reasons to hold off, or to check with your doctor first: pregnancy, nursing or IVF; a pacemaker or defibrillator; metal or permanent implants near the treated area; epilepsy or MS; current cancer or a history of malignant cancer; an active skin condition, infection or unhealed wound in the area; surgery in the area in the last 3 months; resurfacing or a deep peel in the last 3 months; isotretinoin in the past 12 months; and bleeding disorders or blood thinners. This isn't a complete medical list. If you aren't sure, call us or ask at your visit.

Can I have EmFace if I've had Botox or fillers?

Yes, with a gap. If you've had Botox or filler recently, wait at least two weeks before your EmFace treatment. Depending on what you had and where, we may ask you to wait longer. Tell us what you've had and when, and we'll tell you the right time to book.

Where can I get EmFace near me?

EmFace is available at Contourology's Brentwood studio, 11636 Barrington Ct, Suite 113, Los Angeles, CA 90049. Call (213) 667-0708 to book, or book online.

No. EmFace is available at our Brentwood studio only, at 11636 Barrington Ct, Suite 113, Los Angeles, CA 90049. Call (213) 667-0708 to book.
